Field Notes.
Been There Go There is where people document a place, share the specific thing that mattered, and use other people’s notes to plan the next trip.

Matched to you
Where people actually slept.
A stay gets its own card. Rating, who stayed, and the one thing that mattered.
The meal, not the neighborhood.
Restaurants sit apart from the place post, so a city can have several rated tables.
Notable Eateries
sampleStandout tables worth planning around — hidden local spots and memorable meals, each rated by someone who ate there.

The master map is every posted place. Your map is only your posts and trips.
Places on the map
A trip is a plan made of posts.
Before you go, the trip is research. After you go, the same trip is the log.
The notes are free. The plan is not.

About Us
Welcome to Beentheregothere.com — a travel knowledge hub built by experienced travelers, for experienced travelers.
We’re Nick and Carolyn. After more than three decades each of living, working, and exploring around the world, we realized something was missing. Most travel sites are geared toward first-timers or casual vacationers. We wanted a place that speaks to people who already know the basics — a resource that helps you go deeper, avoid the usual traps, and make the most of every trip.
Nick has spent 30+ years in roles that kept him on the road, mixed with plenty of personal travel along the way. He’s a 2-million-miler on air travel and has been a United 1K member for more than 15 years. Carolyn has worked for a major domestic airline for over 30 years and has logged extensive miles exploring destinations across the country and beyond. She’s been a United 1K for the past five years. Together we’ve also held top-tier status on multiple hotel frequent-stay programs for more than 30 years. Between us, we’ve stayed in countless hotels, eaten in everything from hidden local spots to memorable standouts, learned what to prioritize and what to skip, and developed a strong sense of what actually makes a trip worthwhile.
That’s why we created Beentheregothere. Here you’ll find practical, hard-earned insights on places to go, things to do, where to stay, where to eat, must-dos, and things to avoid. We focus on destinations and experiences that reward seasoned travelers — the ones that go beyond the obvious tourist path. We also built the site so we (and you) can log past travels and plan future ones in a way that actually reflects real experience rather than generic checklists.
Our goal is simple: document what we’ve learned and share it with a like-minded community of travelers who want more substance, better recommendations, and fewer regrets. Just as important, we want this to be a place where other experienced travelers can share their own insights, tips, and stories too. Whether you’re looking for reliable guidance on an upcoming trip, a place to track where you’ve been, or a community that gets it and contributes to it, this is the space we wished existed.
Adventures await the bold. We’re glad you’re here — let’s keep exploring.
What we keep, and how to remove it.
Been There Go There is owned by BTGT LLC and run by Nick and Carolyn. We collect the name and email you give us, the posts and photos you add, your Been and Go marks, and whether you are on the free or paid plan. We use that to run the site, show your notes, and manage the subscription.
We do not sell your information. The host and the payment processor see what they need to run the site and take the $5 payment. We keep an account while it is open. If you close it, we delete the account and the personal data tied to it, except records we must keep for taxes or fraud.
To see, correct, or delete your information, use Cancel or write to [email protected].
Cancel the plan, or close the account.
Free and paid members use this page. Stopping the plan does not close the account. Closing the account also stops the plan.
Stop the $5 subscription
You keep the free account. Search, For you, Stays, Eat, and Trips close at the end of the period you already paid.

This deletes the account, the posts tied to it, and any paid plan. This is the deletion path.
